When Will was going off on Versus, I was cracking up. I was like, man, I didn't know you could talk like that! And I never knew you could say 'wanker' on TV, but that's my new word for now on... so I guess something good did come out of Toronto!
Tony Kanaan on Will Power, Toronto, July 2011
So it was a bad result but good day. Led laps, good restarts, passed people, worked with the car, but finished crap! movin on!!
Danica Patrick after Iowa 2009, via Twitter
I think Danica's pretty aggressive in our cars. I mean, you know especially if you catch her at the right time of the month, she might be trading plenty of paint out there!
Ed Carpenter, July 2006
I wasn't thinking, 'That's Eddie [Cheever] and he's in an Infiniti and so I need to beat him.' I was thinking, 'That's Eddie, and I want to kick his ass!'
Robbie Buhl, after winning at WDW in 2000
Andy Granatelli for as much as he put into the sport, especially at Indianapolis. I had to deal with that big kiss. I can still smell the garlic.

I never would've had my opportunity to race at Indy if it weren't for Tony George and the IRL.

Beautiful chaos!
David Malukas on the racing at Texas Motor Speedway, April 2nd 2023
I know a lot of people say that Iowa is in the middle of nowhere, but you know what, we get such a great crowd and they're so enthusiastic. As a driver you could put me in paradise, but if there's nobody in the grandstands then it's not good racing.
Dan Wheldon on Iowa Speedway, June 2009
This place isn't easy. It's not supposed to be easy. This place starts the 33 fastest, best-prepared cars. Obviously, I missed.
Paul Diatlovitch, Indy Bump Day 2007
It's a new... track... record!
Tom Carnegie
This track, believe it or not, has done worse to me in the past, and we came back swinging.
James Hinchcliffe on Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Bump Day, May 19th 2018
The worst thing about crashing A.J.'s car twice in two days is you still have to go to dinner with him. And he makes you buy, and then he eats your bowl of ice cream, too.
Billy Boat
I bet you'd love to drive one, you just wouldn't want to crash one!
Charlie Kimball to Dale Jr. via Twitter, Pocono, August 23rd 2015
Obviously we always see the good days, but Gil de Ferran told me if you can have a bad day and nobody notices, that's how you do a really good job - and that's how you win a championship.
Simon Pagenaud on the 2016 season, ESPN.com, September 18th 2016

Dan Wheldon on Danica Patrick, June 2007
Gentlemen... restart your engines!
Tom Carnegie, Indy 2004
When you tug at a guy in the pit lane, I think that is taking advantage of your gender, because it puts me in an awkward position.
Dan Wheldon on Danica Patrick, June 2007
It's a living, breathing, organism.
Eddie Cheever on Indianapolis Motor Speedway
I mean this guy can't even keep his lies straight. He's told so many in the last week, he's not sure what the truth is.
Robin Miller on Kevin Kalkoven, February 2008
It takes a lot of guts to expose yourself in front of millions of people, in front of all the media, in front of all your peers. If somebody came to me and said, "Hey, you want to run Texas in an IRL car," I'd say, "Hell, no. I don't want to get embarrassed." She's doing that. I have a lot of respect for that.
Jeff Burton on Danica Patrick, June 2010
Good morning from the start/finish line at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

It's always sad to be out of a race but I'm happy that I walked away; it was a nasty, nasty crash.
Tony Kanaan at the 2009 Indianapolis 500
Someone asked me if I win the Indy 500 if I'd still retire? I'd still retire. What better way to go out?
Danica Patrick on her final race, racing.ap.org, March 7th 2018
I'm tired of being nice about it. The fact is, grip created by aerodynamic downforce is our enemy... At the moment, the downforce is so great that it masks the handling and hurts the racing

I hope all the fans out there were as excited about that race as I am. It was awesome doing so much passing. Racing can't get any better!

That's the kind of incident that leaves skidmarks *inside* the cockpit!

You've only seen me smile here.
Romain Grosjean on being in IndyCar, after the GMR Grand Prix, IMS, May 15th 2021
What makes IndyCar racing so good is there's not much you can do on your car to differentiate it from the others. It's only dampers, third springs. There's the aero with the aero kits – and hopefully those are going away.
