Well, the elephant in the room is the aero kits.
Marco Andretti on why the Honda teams were struggling, Barber, April 27th 2015
Again, I was scared to death. I had zero grip, and I was lifting at the start/finish line going into one. It's embarrassing.

You don't gotta win by five seconds - you just gotta win.
Tony Kanaan, Motegi 2007
There's fathers out there. There's husbands. There's brothers, sisters. It's something that absolutely we think about. We hope for the best with it.
Ryan Hunter-Reay on the dangers of racing an IndyCar, Pocono, August 23rd 2015
What makes IndyCar racing so good is there's not much you can do on your car to differentiate it from the others. It's only dampers, third springs. There's the aero with the aero kits – and hopefully those are going away.

Josef Newgarden on The Indy 500, June 2023, via Twitter
I can tell you one thing, with 50 to go, I thought we were going to go home and close our tent.
Roger Penske, Indy 2006
Obviously we always see the good days, but Gil de Ferran told me if you can have a bad day and nobody notices, that's how you do a really good job - and that's how you win a championship.
Simon Pagenaud on the 2016 season, ESPN.com, September 18th 2016
Winning is always a great feeling, but winning at your home track, a place that you grew up at and a place that helped you fall in love with the sport of IndyCar racing... this is priceless.
Graham Rahal on winning at Mid-Ohio, Instagram, August 3rd 2015
There is nothing like winning the Indianapolis 500 and fortunately I was able to do so.
Eddie Cheever Jr.
Howard and me set the first and third fastest times of the day, and we both got beaten to grid slot 33 by a kid in Methodist Hospital with a smoking wreck of a car. The magic of Indy, huh?
Paul Tracy, Indy Bump Day 2010
If you run around in the back with the squirrels, you're bound to get your nuts cracked.
PJ Chesson
I bet you'd love to drive one, you just wouldn't want to crash one!

You don't pay me to run second.
Dan Wheldon to Chip Ganassi, Nashville 2006
This place isn't easy. It's not supposed to be easy. This place starts the 33 fastest, best-prepared cars. Obviously, I missed.
Paul Diatlovitch, Indy Bump Day 2007
Good morning from the start/finish line at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Tom Carnegie
That was for the team.
Tony Kanaan, Fontana 2005
This track, believe it or not, has done worse to me in the past, and we came back swinging.
James Hinchcliffe on Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Bump Day, May 19th 2018
F1 is for sissies, this is proper racing, you can quote me on that!
Dan Wheldon
He's grounded.
Bryan Herta to Marco Andretti on Colton Herta knocking Marco out of P1 in final practice, Long Beach, April 14th 2019
It takes a lot of guts to expose yourself in front of millions of people, in front of all the media, in front of all your peers. If somebody came to me and said, "Hey, you want to run Texas in an IRL car," I'd say, "Hell, no. I don't want to get embarrassed." She's doing that. I have a lot of respect for that.
Jeff Burton on Danica Patrick, June 2010
Heeeeere's something that's amazing... i-dent-ical laps.
Tom Carnegie
"Many people always ask me why I sign off 'Until we meet again.' Because goodbye is so final. Goodbye, Dan Wheldon."
Marty Reid, Las Vegas, October 16th 2011
The worst thing about crashing A.J.'s car twice in two days is you still have to go to dinner with him. And he makes you buy, and then he eats your bowl of ice cream, too.
Billy Boat
Finishing in the Top-10 here was because of nutrition.
A Sarah Fisher malapropism, Texas 2007

Everyone thinks that running in dirty air causes the front end to wash out, but actually it affects the whole car and you just can't follow someone close in fast or medium-speed corners since the aerokits came in.
Will Power on aerokits, Motorsport.com, May 4th 2016
I arrived in Turn 1 and I was convinced that I was doing flat out, but the foot was not flat - it had its own life, it was not connected to my brain at that moment.
Fernando Alonso on Turn 1 commitment at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, May 3rd 2017
I was frustrated since Motegi and wanted to prove a point. When you're in a competitive package, you can't let points slip. I can eat breakfast tomorrow morning now instead of stabbing my fork into the table.
Dan Wheldon, Kansas 2007
I was going through there as hard as I could. It was for everything. It was for all the marbles.

I've never been so happy to be in last place.
Ryan Hunter Reay, Indy 500 Bump Day 2009
Andy Granatelli for as much as he put into the sport, especially at Indianapolis. I had to deal with that big kiss. I can still smell the garlic.
Mario Andretti on Andy Granatelli after the 1969 Indianapolis 500
If they want to be on the front page of USA Today, they can be my guest. If I ever want attention, I'm just going to get out of the car and beat the hell out of somebody.

I drove it like I stole it!

You won't believe it!
Tom Carnegie
Whoever has got the big balls is going to go fast!
Helio Castroneves
The minute he got in front of me, he slowed down half-a-second a lap because he knows I'm fighting him for the championship and he was out of the race. It's probably the most unsportsmanlike thing I've ever seen on the racetrack, apart from shunting someone into a wall.

Cheever had a problem with my dad, he had a problem with me, and now he's taking it out on Marco.

Not bad for a part timer ;o)

When Will was going off on Versus, I was cracking up. I was like, man, I didn't know you could talk like that! And I never knew you could say 'wanker' on TV, but that's my new word for now on... so I guess something good did come out of Toronto!
Tony Kanaan on Will Power, Toronto, July 2011
Now it's obvious we were too conservative, we should have just gone for it
